@00:26I'm surprised it can handle live shatter physics. Than again, no dynamic lighting.

Game Design
May 2nd update; preparing for our Kickstarter on May 16th. This update comes with lots of destruction, object combat, audio, caves, dungeons, and lighting.

In preparation for our marketing campaign, we're launching a creative contest for those willing to delve a little in our world. 1st prize is 500 dollars in cash, a copy of Cymbil Spellcraft, and a special position as Grand Muse in the game. Three 2nd prize winners recieve a copy of Cymbil Spellcraft and positions as lesser Muses in game. Honorable mentions will receive a copy of Cymbil Spellcraft and publication in the Cymbil Spellcraft Artbook. If you're interested in this sort of thing, check out our deviantArt group [link] for the contest; details will be posted May 10th.

Cymbil Spellcraft is a three player, purely cooperative role playing adventure proposed for release on Xbox Live and PC (long-term), and as a single player port for Mobile in 2014. This project is an obvious homage to 16 bit era games like Secret of Mana and Chrono Trigger, with heavy focus on a rewarding combat system, teamwork, like-able player characters with unique play-styles.

First impression: I - WANNA - PLAY! :)

More in-depth thoughts:

From what I see I would not call it a »Role Play Adventure«. Maybe more a »3D Action Adventure« with RPG elements. Do you the 1st »Ys« game (I've played it on Sega Master System). Taking the graphics aside and when you mention »Role Play Adventure« this game comes into mind.

What I just see from the video there are already some things which needs to be fixed:

Currently the camera seem to be on a fixed perspective from above looking diagonal onto the playfield. Do you plan to make the camera rotatable? Otherwise there are already some objects in the way - in the video at around 0:28 - which blocks the view onto the playfield.

I also think the decision for the »uhn«, »ahh«, »ohh« sounds the figure makes when lifting things or just fighting should be questioned. That will become really annoying after some seconds. No problem with seldom sounds for example the figure is pushing or lifting some really heavy things or get hurt really bad. But for second-to-second gameplay?

You should also consider making a »not strictly cooperative« game. How often are three players around to play simultaneously? Yes, of course, network/internet play. But you wouldn't believe how may players play for themselves (I've never touched »Quake 3« for exactly that reason). If your going to plan a cooperative game where you control the figures I strongly recommend to have a look at the games »Trine«/«Trine 2«.

Crossing fingers for your project and wish you all the best! :)

Not a huge fan of the low Camera Angle here, but otherwise, looks fairly neat.
